Love you all! ~Sara

Hi! My name is Sara and I’m just a stay at home Mom with a lot of pent up creativity! =) My husband Dave and I run a home business doing background checks so we are both blessed to be home with our new son Tyler. He is just over a year now. This last year I’ve really been feeling the urge to let my creativity out now that he is with us. It really started to merge when I was thinking of ideas for his birthday party. He really enjoys the show Yo Gabba Gabba so that’s how we decided on the theme. Also in trying to save money brought out alot of creative ideas in me, including experimenting with fondant for his birthday cake. That is why there was a practice cake and a final. I wasn’t sure how the cake would turn out since I’d never used fondant before but to my surprise, it was actually easy for me to work with. I actually found it alot of fun making his cake so when my husbands sister jokingly asked if I would make her wedding cake, I jumped all over it. Then at Christmas my uncle said “everyone wants a Sara cake” so I made the peppermint candy cake. I kind of knew I had a knack for cooking and baking from these special cookies I’ve been making for years now. I’m “not allowed” to come to family and friends events unless I bring my cookies, lol. Once people try them they just want more and more and more! haha… maybe I’ll share the recipe on my blog but it might take a little arm twisting.

    Hi Sara!
I love your cakes – you are so talented. This may open a whole new career for you. Wilton has a lot of classes or if you wanted to get into it big time, Wilton has a professional school just for making and decorating cakes. I have taken one of the non professional classes at Hobby Lobby and can do a descent job with a cake. I make mine for the cake walk at our church at Halloween and mine are usually the first to go. There is a lady here that makes cakes in her home for weddings, b’days, etc. and she got started just like you but she charges bakery prices for her cakes now – it’s a good side income for her. Thank you Martha! I’ve actually had several offers to make friends and friends of friends wedding cakes, birthday cakes, etc. so it had definitely opened doors for me! I started decorating cakes when I was 16 at Baskin Robbins. Then I had additional experience from working at a bakery at Thriftway in Olympia after they found out I knew how to decorate cakes. It seems like all the little odd jobs you do as a teenager just starting out really make a difference! It was nice to hear from you Martha! We should all come visit sometime soon and bring Tyler!!
